CATRION Catering Holding Company has won the Waste Reduction Award at the global ESG Business Awards 2026, in recognition of its integrated approach to waste reduction, improving resource efficiency, and embedding digital solutions and advanced technologies across its operations.
The recognition reflects CATRION’s progress in developing a more efficient and sustainable resource management model that shifts the focus from managing surplus after it is generated to preventing waste at source. This approach combines waste monitoring and data analysis with the use of artificial intelligence to support operational decision-making, alongside food surplus redistribution, recycling, composting, and the development of more efficient practices across planning, production, and consumption.
The program enables operational teams to gain a more accurate understanding of waste patterns and their sources, while leveraging data to improve demand forecasting, procurement, production planning, and portion management. This contributes to reducing waste and strengthening resource efficiency across the company’s operations.
Commenting on the recognition, Eng. Ziad Al-Harbi, Executive Director of Environment, Social Responsibility and Governance at CATRION, said: “This recognition reaffirms the direction CATRION is taking to make waste reduction an integral part of our daily operations, rather than a standalone initiative. This progress is driven by the commitment of our teams to translating our environmental, social and governance objectives into measurable operational practices that can be continuously improved.”
He added: “In the next phase, we will continue to expand the use of data and technology and explore further opportunities to achieve new benchmarks in waste reduction.”
This achievement forms part of CATRION’s broader approach to integrating sustainability principles and practices into its business model and operations, supporting its transformation into a more efficient and technology-enabled integrated hospitality company, with responsible resource management embedded across its operations.
CATRION continues to advance its environmental, social and governance practices in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.
